Average starting salary for white-collar workers at big firms over 33 million won

대기업 사무직 초봉 평균 3300만원으로 나타나

University graduates who land white-collar jobs at large corporations in Korea are paid an average of about 33 million won in annual starting salary as of June this year, government data showed Thursday.

정부가 목요일 공개한 자료에 따르면 국내 대기업 화이트칼라 직군(사무직)에 취업한 대졸자들이 올해 6월 기준 평균 약 3300만원의 초봉을 받는 것으로 나타났다.

According to the data released by the labor ministry, local companies with more than 500 employees pay 33.47 million won on average to a worker who holds a job in business administration or accounting for less than one year after obtaining a bachelor's degree or higher.

고용노동부가 공개한 자료에 따르면 500인 이상의 대기업은 학사학위 이상을 취득한 1년 미만 사무관리직 또는 회계직으로 재직하는 근로자에게 평균 3347만원을 지급하는 것으로 나타났다.

The average annual salary rises to 86.51 million won for large company employees with the same conditions and a career spanning longer than 10 years, the ministry said.

고용노동부는 같은 조건에서 10년 이상 경력직원의 평균 연봉이 8651만원으로 올라간다고 밝혔다.

It also noted that wage gaps between university and high school graduates were smallest at large conglomerates.

또 대기업에서 대졸자와 고졸자 간 임금 격차가 가장 적다고 밝혔다.

The ratio of the average wages of workers with a high school diploma or lower to the wages of workers with a bachelor's degree or higher was 70.2 percent at companies with more than 500 employees, which was higher than at any companies of smaller size, the ministry said. The corresponding ratio was smallest, at 59.2 percent, in companies with 100 to 299 employees, it added.

고용노동부는 "500인 이상 대기업에서 고졸 이하 근로자의 평균임금은 학사 이상 근로자의 임금의 70.2%로 규모가 작은 기업들보다 높았다"고 밝혔다. 이어 "직원 수 100명에서 299명 기업이 59.2%로 임금 격차가 가장 컸다"고 덧붙였다.
