Actor distributes masks to Daegu residents

배우 김보성, 대구시민들에게 마스크 나눠줬다

Actor Kim Bo-sung visited Daegu, the epicenter of coronavirus in Korea, and donated more than 5000 masks in person to residents, Sunday.

지난 일요일 배우 김보성이 코로나바이러스의 국내 발원지인 대구를 방문해 5,000여 개의 마스크를 주민들에게 직접 나눠줬다.

Kim, 53, told news outlet Star News on Monday that he wanted to express support for Daegu residents. The city has confirmed more than 3,600 coronavirus cases, as of Tuesday morning.

김보성(53)은 24일 연예 매체 스타뉴스와의 인터뷰에서 대구 시민들에게 힘을 주고 싶었다고 말했다. 대구시는 화요일 아침 현재 3,600건 이상의 코로나바이러스 확진 사례를 확인했다.

"It was devastating to see people waiting in line to buy masks at the pharmacy because of the shortage," he explained, adding that he is currently in self-quarantine after returning home.

그는 "마스크 부족 때문에 약국에서 마스크를 사려고 줄 서 기다리는 사람들의 모습에 마음이 아팠다"고 설명하며 "집에 도착해 현재 자가격리 중"이라고 덧붙였다.

His good deed was publicized through the Daegu community's social media page. The account uploaded pictures of the actor with boxes of masks on Facebook and wrote: "Kim Bo-sung is driving around Daegu, handing out masks and giving encouraging messages now."

그의 선행은 대구지역 소셜미디어 페이지를 통해 알려졌다. 이 계정은 배우 김보성의 사진을 페이스북에 올리며 "김보성이 대구 일대를 돌아다니며 마스크를 나눠주고 격려의 말을 하고 있다"고 글을 썼다.

This is not the first time the actor has donated masks.

이 배우가 마스크를 기증한 것은 이번이 처음이 아니다.

He revealed his previous donations to help prevent coronavirus spread during a February episode of the talk show "Radio Star." He said he donated masks to people in Jincheon and Asan in North and South Chungcheong Province ― the quarantine area designated for Korean evacuees from Wuhan.

그는 토크쇼 '라디오 스타'의 2월 방영분에서 코로나바이러스가 퍼지는 것을 막기 위한 그의 기부 사실을 공개했다. 그는 우한 교민들의 격리 장소였던 충남 아산과 진천의 주민들에게 마스크를 기증했다고 밝혔다.

On Feb. 19, he released a digital single "Loyalty" and announced that he planned to donate the song's proceeds as well.

2월 19일, 그는 디지털 싱글 '의리'를 발표했고, 음원 수익도 기부할 계획이라고 알렸다.

The actor debuted in 1989 with a lead role in the movie "Happiness Does Not Come in Grades." He became known for his "tough guy" image, starring in various action films such as the "Two Cops" series.

김보성은 1989년 영화 '행복은 성적순이 아니잖아요'의 주인공으로 데뷔했다. 그는 '투캅스' 시리즈와 같은 다양한 액션 영화에 출연하면서 '터프가이' 이미지로 알려졌다.
