Audi to slash 9,500 jobs in Germany by 2025
아우디, 2025년까지 독일에서 9500명 감원
FRANKFURT AM MAIN (AFP) – German luxury carmaker Audi said Tuesday it planned to slash 9,500 jobs in Germany by 2025 as part of a massive overhaul to help finance a costly switch to electric vehicles.
독일의 럭셔리 자동차 제조업체 아우디는 비용이 많이 드는 전기자동차로의 전환을 위한 대대적인 조직개편의 일환으로 2025년까지 독일에서 9,500개의 일자리를 줄일 계획이라고 화요일 발표했다.
The job cuts will be achieved through an early retirement program and natural turnover at its two German plants, the company said in a statement.
회사 측은 독일 공장 두 곳에서 시행될 이번 감원이 조기 퇴직 및 자연적 이직을 통해 이루어질 것이라고 성명을 통해 밝혔다.
At the same time, the Volkswagen subsidiary said it would create 2,000 new jobs in the areas of electromobility and digitization as it pivots to the smarter, cleaner cars of tomorrow.
동시에 아우디 측은 미래의 똑똑한 친환경 자동차로의 변화를 위해 전기차와 디지털 분야에서 2,000개의 새로운 일자리를 창출할 것이라고 설명했다.
The shake-up comes as Audi, like other carmakers, grapples with slowing demand in a weaker global economy, tougher pollution rules and the huge investments needed for the battery-powered era.
이러한 대대적인 개편은 아우디가 다른 자동차 업체들과 마찬가지로 세계 경기 침체하에 줄어드는 수요, 엄격해진 환경 규제, 전기차 시대에 필요한 막대한 투자와 관련하여 고심 끝에 나온 해결책이다.
“In times of upheaval, we are making Audi more agile and more efficient,” said CEO Bram Schot. “This will increase productivity and sustainably strengthen the competitiveness of our German plants.”
브람 쇼트 아우디 최고경영자(CEO)는 "격변의 시대에 우리는 아우디를 더욱 민첩하고 효율적으로 만들 것"이라며 "이는 생산성을 높이고 독일 공장의 경쟁력을 지속 가능하게 강화할 것"이라고 말했다.
The remaining roughly 50,000 workers at Audi’s Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm factories will have job security until the end of 2029.
아우디의 잉골슈타트와 네카줄름 공장에 남아있는 약 5만명의 근로자들은 2029년 말까지 고용을 보장받는다.
“We have reached an important milestone,” said Peter Mosch, head of Audi’s works council. “The extension of the employment guarantee is a great success in difficult times.”
피터 모쉬 아우디 노동조합 위원장은 "우리는 중요한 이정표에 도달했다"며 "고용보장 기간의 연장은 어려운 시기에 매우 성공적인 협상"이라고 설명했다.
Audi said the reorganization would help boost earnings by six billion euros ($6.6 billion) by 2029, keeping the premium brand on track to reach a profit margin of nine to 11 percent.
아우디 측은 이번 구조조정으로 2029년까지 약 60억 유로(약 7조7800억원)의 추가 이익을 내고, 영업이익률을 9~11%까지 끌어올릴 계획이라고 밝혔다.
