빵집에 침입한 도둑, 4시간 동안 빵·케이크 먹어

A burglar who entered a bakery ended up eating up bread and cakes there for four hours, according to the bakery owner and police, Tuesday.

도둑이 한 빵집에 들어가 빵과 케이크를 4시간 동안이나 먹었다고 빵집 주인과 경찰이 화요일 전했다.

The owner of Sunny Bread in Itaewon, central Seoul, posted CCTV footage of her shop on her Instagram on Saturday, saying a thief broke into the bakery on early Friday morning and she laughed a lot while watching the footage with police officers.

서울 용산구 이태원에 있는 제과점 써니브레드의 주인은 토요일 자신의 인스타그램에 가게의 CCTV 영상을 올리며 금요일 새벽 도둑이 빵집에 침입했고 경찰관과 함께 CCTV 영상을 보면서 많이 웃었다고 말했다.

The thief, who first appeared at 12:40 a.m. at the shop, picked up a muffin from one of the shelves. He disappeared, but came back and took several more pieces of bread. The man disappeared again, then came back and began to dig into some cake.

오전 12시 40분 처음 가게에 나타난 도둑은 선반 위 머핀을 집어 들었다. 그는 사라졌다가 다시 돌아와서 빵을 몇 조각 더 가져갔다. 그는 또 사라졌다가 또다시 돌아와 케이크를 집어 먹기 시작했다.

He ate bread and cake for four hours and then he took 300,000 won in cash from the counter and left.

그는 무려 4시간 동안이나 빵과 케이크를 먹어 치운 후 계산대에서 현금 30만원을 꺼내 들고 떠났다.

“What was funny was, the thief took one piece of bread and ate it in front of the door. Then, maybe because it was delicious, he took some more bread and then a piece of cake that was supposed to be discarded, and two more pieces,” the owner wrote. “I’ve never seen a situation in which a thief eats bread and has four more helpings rather than focusing on cash. The police officers couldn’t believe it either.”

빵집 주인은 "재미있는 건, 도둑이 빵 한 조각을 가지고 문 앞에서 먹었다는 것. 그리고 맛있어서 그런지 빵을 몇 개 더 가져갔고 폐기 예정이던 케이크 한 조각을 먹고 두 조각을 더 가져갔다"며 "도둑이 빵을 먹고 나서 돈보다 빵에 집중해 네 번이나 더 먹는 상황은 본 적이 없다. 함께 있던 경찰관들도 믿을 수 없어 했다"고 글을 올렸다.

She said she was thankful to the man who enjoyed her breads and cakes. “I used to think my breads might not suit ordinary people’s palates as it is gluten-free for diabetes sufferers or people who are prone to hyperallergic. But now I feel flattered.”

빵집 주인은 그녀의 빵과 케이크를 맛있게 먹은 남자에게 감사를 표하며 "우리 가게 빵은 당뇨 환자나 알레르기가 심한 사람들을 위한 글루텐프리 빵이라 일반 사람들의 입맛에 맞지 않을 수도 있다고 생각했다. 하지만 지금은 어깨가 으쓱해지는 기분"이라고 전했다.

As the video went viral, the owner posted a photo of some muffins and cakes under the title of “Thief’s pick!”

동영상이 인기를 끌자 주인은 '도둑의 선택!'이라는 제목으로 머핀과 케이크 사진을 올렸다.

She also said the man took 300,000 won but this incident generated 3 million won worth promotion for the shop. “If you turn yourself in to police, I’ll forgive you and give you cakes.”

그녀는 또한 도둑이 30만원을 가져갔지만, 이번 사건으로 빵집에 300만원의 광고 효과가 생겼다며 도둑에게 "경찰에 자수하면 용서하고 케이크를 주겠다"고 말했다.

The police are using CCTV footage to trace the culprit.

경찰은 CCTV 영상을 통해 범인을 추적하고 있다.
