7 Koreans dead, 21 missing in boat accident in Hungary
헝가리 유람선 사고로 한국인 7명 사망, 21명 실종
Seven Korean tourists died and 21 are still missing after a sightseeing boat named the Hableany (Mermaid in English) collided with a bigger cruise vessel and capsized on the Danube River in Budapest, Hungary, at 9:05 p.m. Wednesday evening (local time) according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
외교부에 따르면 수요일 오후 9시 5분(현지시각) 헝가리 부다페스트 다뉴브 강에서 유람선 허블레아니(한국어로 ‘인어’)호가 대형 크루즈선과 충돌해 전복되며 한국인 관광객 7명이 숨지고 21명이 실종됐다.

한국인 7명이 구조돼 곧바로 인근 병원으로 옮겨졌다.
Out of 35 people on board, 33 people were Korean tourists and tour guides. Two Hungarian crew members are also missing following the incident.
탑승자 35명 중 33명은 한국인 관광객과 현지 가이드였다. 두 명의 헝가리 승무원도 이번 사고로 실종된 상태다.
Heavy rainfall swelled waters of the river at the time of the accident, hampering rescue activities the foreign ministry said.
사고 당시 폭우로 강물이 불어나 구조 활동을 방해했다고 외교부는 전했다.
"Rescue operations underway are difficult due to the month-long rainfall there," a ministry official said. "The river is flowing fast and high. On top of that, the water temperature there is below 15 degrees Celsius."
외교부 관계자는 "현재 진행 중인 구조작업은 한 달 동안 내린 비 때문에 더딘 상태"라며 "강물의 수위도 높고 유속도 빠른 데다, 수온도 15도 이하"라고 말했다.
The Korean Embassy in Hungary formed an emergency team to assist in the rescue, and is closely coordinating with the local authorities, he added.
헝가리 주재 한국대사관은 구조작업을 지원하기 위해 비상대책반을 구성해 현지 당국과 긴밀히 조율하고 있다고 그는 덧붙였다.
Hungarian authorities are looking into the exact cause of the accident, but so far, no details have been confirmed, according to the official.
헝가리 당국은 정확한 사고 원인을 조사하고 있지만, 현재까지 구체적인 내용은 확인되지 않고 있다고 이 관계자는 전했다.
"The boat was not big with an overall capacity of 45 people, but it appears to have sunk after colliding with the larger sightseeing vessel," he said. "An investigation is underway by the local authorities to find out the cause of the accident."

For swift post-accident management, the foreign ministry dispatched an emergency response team to Budapest, Thursday, composed of 18 officials from the ministry and the National Emergency Management Agency.
외교부는 신속한 사고 수습을 위해 목요일 외교부와 소방청 인원 18명으로 구성된 신속대응팀을 부다페스트로 급파했다.
After receiving a briefing on the accident, President Moon Jae-in ordered relevant ministries to mobilize all possible measures and resources to assist in rescue operations.
문재인 대통령은 사고 관련 브리핑을 받은 뒤 관련 부처에 가능한 모든 대책과 자원을 동원해 구조작업을 지원하라고 지시했다.
On Thursday afternoon, Moon held a 15-minute-long telephone conversation with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, requesting his assistance in handling post-crisis management.
문 대통령은 목요일 오후 빅토르 오르반 헝가리 총리와 15분간 전화통화를 하며 사고 수습에 대한 협조를 요청했다.
"President Moon instructed officials to cooperate with the Hungarian government to utilize all available resources for rescue activities," Cheong Wa Dae spokesman Ko Min-jung said.
고민정 청와대 대변인은 "문 대통령이 헝가리 정부와 협력하여 가용한 모든 자원을 총동원한 구조활동을 지시했다"고 밝혔다.
The President also ordered Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha to immediately set up a central disaster and safety countermeasures office, Ko said.
문 대통령은 또한 강경화 외교부 장관에게 즉각 중앙재난안전대책본부를 설치하라고 지시했다고 고 대변인은 말했다.
Kang will lead the office to swiftly come up with measures to deal with the accident the foreign ministry said. She flew to Hungary Thursday evening to inspect the site of the sinking.
사고 수습 방안을 신속히 마련하기 위해 강 장관이 직접 중대본을 이끌 것이라고 외교부는 밝혔다. 강 장관은 목요일 저녁 침몰 현장 조사를 위해 헝가리로 날아갔다.
