Former president was in her bedroom during Sewol
전직 대통령은 세월호 때 관저 침실에 있었다
The prosecution released Wednesday the outcome of its investigation into former President Park Geun-hye’s actions on the day of the ferry Sewol sinking on April 16, 2014.
검찰은 28일, 2014년 4월 16일 발생한 세월호 침몰 사건 당시 박근혜 전 대통령의 행적에 대한 수사 결과를 발표했다.
Park has maintained she carried out her duties in a regular manner on the day of the sinking and she was sufficiently briefed about it and gave the necessary orders. But the prosecution’s findings contradict such claims.
박 전 대통령은 사건 당일 정상적으로 업무를 보면서 사건에 대해 충분히 보고 받고 필요한 지시를 내렸다고 주장해왔다. 그러나 검찰 수사 결과는 이와 배치된다.
Prosecutors concluded the impeached former leader’s office fabricated reports on the ferry sinking that took more than 300 lives to cover up Park's mishandling of the incident.
검찰은 탄핵 된 박 전 대통령의 청와대가 대통령의 미흡한 사고 대응을 덮기 위해 300명이 넘는 생명을 앗아간 세월호 참사 관련 보고서를 조작했다고 결론을 내놨다.
The Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office indicted some of her key aides, including former chief-of-staff Kim Ki-choon, for document fabrication and power abuse.
서울중앙지지검은 문서 조작과 직권 남용 등으로 김기춘 전 비서실장 등 박 전 대통령의 핵심 참모들을 기소했다.
The prosecution’s findings confirm the ex-leader’s negligence as well as her dependence on her jailed confidant Choi Soon-sil.
검찰 조사 결과는 박 전 대통령의 직무 태만과 비선 실세로 알려진 최순실에 대한 의존도를 확인시켰다.
Prosecutors said she was briefed on the incident while she was in her bedroom at the presidential residence. It is incomprehensible that the president was not at her office in Cheong Wa Dae, but remained in her private quarters on a Wednesday morning.
검찰은 대통령이 관저 침실에서 사건에 대한 보고를 받았다고 밝혔다. 대통령이 수요일 오전 청와대 집무실이 아닌 사적 공간에 있었다는 것은 이해하기 어렵다.
She apparently took Wednesdays off regularly for rest and did not appear at her office unless she had public events.
심지어 휴식을 위해 수요일을 자주 비워두고 공식 일정이 없으면 집무실에 나오지 않았다는 것이다.
